Legacy West Midlands

"Passionately serving our communities"

Legacy West Midlands is a community charity (CIO #1180546) based in north Birmingham, offering a range of services for local people, whilst delivering on an ambitious agenda of community cohesion. Since 2010, we have delivered an array of projects, working with stakeholders to realise outcomes in health, heritage, culture and the social economy. We provide services to people from across Birmingham and the Black Country, with our culture output attracting visitors from further afield.

We work in disadvantaged neighbourhoods, where residents experience marginalisation and deprivation – these areas are highly diverse, boasting a unique cultural inheritance.

These communities are amongst the 10% most deprived nationally and suffered disproportionately during the pandemic and ensuing cost of living crisis. The services we offer are intended to supplement the provision of services that often fall outside of the remit of statutory providers, supporting individuals, social enterprise and marginalised communities.

The circulation of social capital occurs via our “bring it and share it” ethos, passionately serving our communities with the services they need. Be it access to elite culture institutions, prestigious funding opportunities or help with employment, we help bridge that gap.

We work to provide equitable opportunities for community engagement on health, employment, sports and heritage that help people live and work together cohesively.

By learning about and sharing stories of migration and community, we foster a sense of belonging for local people. Our popular heritage trails bring local history to life!
Championing artistic talent in the West Midlands, commissioning artworks and creating opportunities for creative community engagement.
We provide health & wellbeing services of consistent high quality and free at the point of access for local people. We collaborate with NHS partners and micro organisations to engage health service users and their families.
Working to tackle the housing crisis head-on, we work with community partners to find urban living solutions that respect the needs of local people.
