About this event
A Taste Of Handsworth: Black History Month Special

From Georgian treats to Ethiopian coffee tickle your taste buds and learn Handsworth’s fascinating food history!

Your tour will begin in Soho House to explore the Georgian obsession with eating and drinking. From elaborate breakfasts to ceremonial tea making, the Boulton family’s life revolved around dinning. The House also played host to the famous Lunar Society dinners with their extensive menus.

We’ll taste several Georgian delicacies including Game Pie, Gingerbread and the fruit favoured by the rich, pineapple. House completed, the tour will continue out into Handsworth, led by an experienced tour guide from Legacy West Midlands

Stopping off for Ethiopian coffee, Polish pastries and ending with a tasting platter at the Soho Tavern, the walk will combine the Georgian history of the area with that of present day communities.

We’ll end at the Soho Tavern where you are welcome to continue your afternoon.

The tour will be delivered in partnership with The Lunar Society and Legacy West Midlands.
