Handsworth Lullaby is a new community-led arts project celebrating the rich cultural diversity of Handsworth through music, storytelling, and shared memories.
Commissioned in 2025 by Legacy West Midlands, in partnership with Handsworth Cultural Action Area and Birmingham City Council, the project invites local people to help shape a vibrant live performance taking place in May 2026 (date to be confirmed).
About the Project
Handsworth Lullaby brings together childhood lullabies, songs, poems, and personal stories from across generations and cultures. These contributions will be woven into a powerful live performance featuring music, spoken word, poetry, dance, and community voices.
“In a world of growing division, the arts remind us of the beauty in unity.” — Danni Mayers
